When the money is transferred from one of your accounts to your another account, it means you are going to have a negative amount (debit) in one account as well as a corresponding positive amount (credit) in the other one. For example you transferred funds from your PayPal account to your checking account. This means that your PayPal account is debited and your corresponding checking account is credit with the same amount. This transaction will appear with a negative sign in your Billy account for PayPal. What you will need to do in order to sort out this transaction, you will need to go to Bank Accounts -> PayPal (From the Drop-down on the top right corner of the screen, right next to the Billy Logo). Once the transactions have loaded on the screen, click Reconcile to view the transactions which need your attention.
- You will need to locate the transaction in your PayPal.
- Look for the corresponding entry in the right side, it should show you a matching entry. If there is an entry, you just need to drag and drop it right next to transaction that you want to match it with. If not, you will need to create one for it.
A. Click on the "Create another transaction"
B. Select your Checking Account from the Account dropdown.
C. Click on match.
(This will create a credit [inward transaction] in your checking account, which will be shown in green)
3. Once you have successfully created the transaction, select your Checking Account from the drop-down on the top left corner (the one that you selected "PayPal" from previously).
4. You should see the transaction appearing in green on your screen.
Once you have done this, you are all set.
Second way to do the same thing is from the Transaction page.
What you will need to do is to go to Accounting -> Transactions -> New Transaction (Green button on the top right corner of the screen)
A popup will appear, you will need to select "Bank Transfer" from here.
This will open up a window where you will need to enter the details of this particular transaction:
Transferred From: The account from which the money is being removed.(negative value / amount debited)
Transferred To: The account to which the money is being moved to. (positive value / amount credited)
Amount Transferred: Enter the amount which was transferred. Description:You will need to add a description to remember and help Billy identify the transaction.
Once you have filled out all the above information according to your transaction, please click Approve and you are all set. No need to worry about a missing transaction for now, or have an unsorted transaction without any information about it.
